Hazard analysis for induced seismicity, combining geostatistics and geomechanics into probabilistic seismic hazard analysis

Mauricio Reyes Canales is working on his PhD in Geophysics with Prof. Van Der Baan at the University of Alberta.

He received a B-Eng (2015) in Geophysical Engineering at the Universidad Simon Bolivar, Venezuela. During his undergraduate studies, Mauricio was an exchange student at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology for one year, where he completed a thesis on seismic Interpretation in the Barents Sea. Mauricio is a member of the Microseismic Industry Consortium (MIC), and his research is focused on hazard analysis for induced seismicity, combining geostatistics and geomechanics into probabilistic seismic hazard analysis.

He is bilingual (fluent in Spanish and English) and currently learning French. Mauricio is an active volunteer at the UoA with both the UAGGS and the ISS.
