Using geomechanical modelling to investigate new methods that enhance the performance of hydraulic fracturing treatment and mitigate induced seismicity

Yiru Zhou is working on her MSc in Geophysics and Geomechanics, with Profs. Van Der Baan and Currie at the University of Alberta.

She received a BSc (2018) with high distinction in Geophysics from the University of Toronto. Yiru previously worked on the source mechanism inversions of hydraulic fracturing induced seismicities within the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. Her current research interests focus on using geomechanical modelling to investigate new methods that enhance the performance of hydraulic fracturing treatment and mitigate induced seismicity based on the bonded particle method.

Yiru is trilingual (English, Mandarin and Korean) and willing to relocate for right position
